Who We Are

I was born and raised in Milledgeville, GA. I had no clue what chiropractic was. I like most people just thought you went when you were in pain or a car accident. I was inspired by the movie “Patch Adams” and knew I wanted to be a physician that took care of children.

I was discouraged from becoming a pediatrician after discovering first hand in college the poor state of our medical system. I ended up getting an amazing job as a chemist for a large pharmaceutical company which opened my eyes to the stark reality of drug abuse and opioid addiction in our country.

My mom was a victim of the mismanagement of prescription medications through her chemotherapy and her immune system was destroyed, and she was severely depressed, and plagued with chronic pain. Fortunately, she was encouraged to seek chiropractic care. After three months of chiropractic care, she went into remission from cancer after years of mainstream treatment.

While in school, I reaffirmed my passion for children, and studied under the leading Pediatric and Prenatal Chiropractors in the world. I opened my practice in 2012 in Smyrna, GA, and I haven’t stopped talking about the power of chiropractic since. My “WHY” for practicing chiropractic is constantly evolving. Initially, it was for myself but now I practice for my children, Therine and Ryan. My amazing husband Tommy has put up with me through it all and helped build MFC and I love that my entire family is apart of this dream.

My mission now is to communicate that chiropractic care is for every member of your family. When you and your family come in for an adjustment, I will use the most gentle and effective technique for each member. Every adjustment is delivered with compassion and love with the intent of creating a well-adjusted community just as if you were part of my family.

Dr. Kerstin Halstead

Dr. Kerstin grew up in Michigan and completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University in Kinesiology. While in college, she struggled with anxiety – which had a direct effect on her ability to focus, study and sleep – leading to stress and other health issues. After struggling through multiple semesters, it was suggested by a mentor that she start seeing a local chiropractor. Within one month, her ability to focus vastly improved and her anxiety surrounding test taking was almost completely gone.

After learning about and experiencing the positive impact that chiropractic care can have on leading a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Kerstin decided she wanted to be able to empower others to take back control of their health. She then decided to pursue a chiropractic degree at Life University here in Georgia.  She trained extensively under Dr. Jamie Michael while in school, and officially became a part of the Michael Family Chiropractic team after graduating in 2017.

Dr. Kerstin has advanced training in pediatrics and pregnancy including the Webster technique, a technique specifically dedicated to pregnant women. She also practices extremity adjusting, such as on the arms and legs, and has completed post-graduate training to become advanced proficiency certified in Torque Release Technique. This specialized technique allows for a gentle amount of force and the spine to be in a neutral position.

Dr. Kerstin believes in the power of chiropractic and loves being a part of Michael Family Chiropractic. Her dedication to serving the families of Smyrna, GA and seeing them lead happy and healthy lives is inspiring. When you come into the office here at Michael Family, you’ll be treated just like family, and Dr. Kerstin will be leading the charge.
